Good nutrition and attractive tasty meals are an essential part of our service. Each floor at Grace Villa has its own dining room. Weekly menus are posted on all floors and daily menus are written at the dining room entrance.
Our Certified Nutrition Manager is responsible for supervising a team of Certified Cooks and Dietary Aides. All Dietary Aides hold a Certificate in Food handling and the Food Service Workers’ Certificate. Our Registered Dietitian, and Residents’ Council Food Committee are part of the planning of our menus.
Three meals a day plus three snacks are provided and monitored for the resident in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines. Alternate selections are available and residents are made aware of the choices at each meal. To make things easier for the residents, Grace Villa offers visual plates. The staff brings both meal choices already prepared on the plate to the resident’s table. This makes choosing a meal easier for the residents.
Special therapeutic diets are prepared in accordance with doctor’s order and a nutritional supplement is provided to the resident if necessary. Nutritional supplements and feeding aides are provided if determined appropriate by professional assessments completed in the home. Meal service is offered in the dining rooms, although for residents who may be acutely ill, meals will be provided in their rooms on a short-term basis.
Menus are based on a three-week rotation cycle. The menus are changed seasonally to incorporate seasonal items and provide variety. Special occasion meals are held throughout the year (BBQ, Holiday Meals, Theme Days, etc.) Families are invited to participate. Mealtimes are 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
